This wasnt quite Kolya’s first birthday party. I seem to recall that he gatecrashed one last month that involved dancing to Abba and eating tartrazine-infested chips and watching other kids tear around a swimming pool, an event I wasn’t entirely sorry to miss. But I think perhaps this was his first invited one. Mental note for future birthday parties: this one involved fewer than ten kids, and even fewer adults, and didn’t involve bowlfuls of sugar-laden party packets. Revolutionary.
