This weekend we went up to Johannesburg for a surprise baby shower for Hayley. Kolya’s little cousin is due in March – only a few more weeks to go! In the meantime, we’re still having adventures with eating, crawling, and learning to stand…
Baby shower of another kind… Kolya’s first, I think, at Peggy and Brian’s amazing spot near the Hartebeespoort Dam (sorry if anyone’s offended by nudity – my mom took the photo and it was worse before I cropped it!!) :

Jungle Oats, breakfast of champions:

Kolya practising his mew standing technique. I’m sure my Maya Prass pants can take some of the credit, somehow.

Going walking in the bushveld…

Cooling off after the walk..

A more suburban watering hole (at Rob and Hayley’s house). One of the weird things about a short trip was that we had to use disposable nappies – the first time Kolya’s worn them consistently for more than a day. I have no idea why there is so much resistance to washing nappies. These things smell weird, it’s nearly impossible to tell when you need a fresh one, and they’re ugly. We were very happy to get home to our pretty, fresh-smelling cloth ones!

Well done for using cloth nappies, you eco-conscious maternal goddess!
