Update:

Aargh - forgot to slash pre-baking AGAIN. Had to reach into the oven with a knife - not my best moment.

Can you see how baking directly on the stone gives the bread such a sexy underneath crust?? Woo hoo.

Can’t believe I forgot to slash the loaves again. But I think this was my first success with fridge-retarded dough: made it on Wednesday and baked today (though left shaping for last). The amount of dough was so small I didn’t save any for a starter. I think this bread should keep us going for a couple of days though.

  1. I fail at slashing bread. I always try, but my knives don’t actually create slashes. They create dents. I think I need to get a razor blade and try that.
